ACLD to celebrate 65 Years at the Annual Enviable Life Ball

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, ACLD Foundation will be hosting their Enviable Life Ball at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City, NY. This annual fundraiser benefits Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities (ACLD), Inc., whose mission is to provide opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to pursue enviable lives, to increase their independence and foster supportive relationships within the community.

This year, ACLD celebrates its 65th anniversary of serving children and adults with autism, learning and developmental disabilities and their families on Long Island. The ACLD Foundation will honor the staff of ACLD by presenting the Leadership Award for their dedication, commitment and unwavering service to those supported by ACLD.

New York State Senator John W. Mannion will be presented with the Advocacy in Action Award at the event. Mannion is the Chairman of the New York State Senate Committee on Disabilities and represents the 50th Senate District, which includes portions of Central New York. He has been instrumental in giving the I/DD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) community, families and support people a voice in the Senate. Examples of his advocacy include holding roundtables to assess the response in residential facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, enhancing a job expansion program for people with disabilities, creating an ombudsman program at OPWDD and removing outdated language from state law.
