Bites Nearby: Bistro
Known for its wraps and salads, this lunch place has made its mark.
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Garden City Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here’s this week’s choice:
Bistro: Since its opening, Bistro has found a niche with village residents and local business workers who love the large salads and wraps. Patrons can watch as the staff mixes or chops the salads and grills the meats in front of you. Known primarily as a lunch place, Bistro offers eight types of breakfast wraps (all for $4.50), including Florentine (eggs, spinach, tomato and red onion), Greek, Western, Spanish, Southwestern and American (egg, bacon and cheese).
But the place really starts cooking around lunch, where 20 different salads are on the menu. Popular choices include the Chicken LaLa with strips of grilled chicken, field greens, walnuts, dried cranberries, goat cheese and balsamic dressing ($9.25); the Chicken Milanese with chicken cutlet over baby argula with roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella and balsamic dressing ($9.25); and the Chicken Waldorf including fresh turkey, apples, grapes, walnuts and crumbled gorgonzola cheese over greens and bleau cheese dressing ($10.49).

Heros, burgers, paninis and the popular wraps are good and plentiful at Bistro.
There are 19 wraps, ranging in price from $6.49 to $9. Some have called the wraps enormous; hearty and robust are other words; all agree the food is good. Bistro is suited for businesses who specialize in takeout as well as students who want to order and go. Seating is limited (mostly outdoors) but that hasn’t stopped business from flourishing.
