Car Crash Injures Officer, Suspect During Arrest
A man drove into the officer's parked car, hitting both the officer and the man he was arresting.

A police officer and the man he was arresting were injured early Saturday morning after a driver struck the police officer's parked car.
According to Nassau police, a Hempstead police officer pulled over a man he suspected of drunk driving. The officer arrested Michael Male, 42, of Westbury. While the officer was walking Male to his cruiser, a Mercury marquis struck the car, which was parked with its lights on. Police say the impact caused the police cruiser to move about 20 feet, hitting both the officer and Male. The officer and Male were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Marquis was also taken to a hospital with serious internal injuries.
Male was charged with DWI. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
