Clavin & D'Esposito Host Relief Supply Drive for Fani Victims
Receiver and Councilman Team with South Asian Community to Help Those Impacted by Devastating Cyclone

Millions were impacted in India, Bangladesh and across South Asia by Cyclone Fani, a deadly storm that brought 120 mile-per-hour winds and destroyed communities. Many are struggling to pick up the pieces and recover from this devastating cyclone.
With so many of Hempstead Town’s residents with family in South Asia, Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Don Clavin reached out to friends in the South Asian community to see how America’s largest township can help out. Clavin, joined by Councilman Anthony D’Esposito and members of the Friends for Good Health, announced today that they would team together to host a relief supply drive to help victims of Cyclone Fani.

“It is truly heartbreaking to see the pictures and video clips from this devastating storm,” Clavin said. “We have a significant population of residents from South Asia who are closely monitoring the situation. Many of them have family members who were impacted by the storm. We want to assist them in any way possible, so we decided to help organize a supply drive for the victims.”
The collection drive will begin as scores of people will be making their way through the doors of the Hempstead Town tax office this coming week to pay their second-half school taxes.

“Supplies that may seem simple, everyday items are in demand for victims of Cyclone Fani,” D’Esposito said. “Items such as bottled water and baby wipes can make a difference for people who are trying to get back on their feet after this catastrophic storm.”
Accepted items that can be donated are the following: bottled water, clothes, blankets, pillows, towels, diapers/baby wipes, hand sanitizer, paper towels and first aid kits.
A collection box will be stationed in the lobby of the Hempstead Town Tax Office (200 North Franklin Street, Hempstead). Collections will be accepted during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. through 4:45 p.m.)
“Hempstead Town’s residents always step up to help others,” Clavin said. “If you would like to donate supplies to victims of Cyclone Fani, come on down to the tax office and drop it off in our collection bin.”
