Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter NSDAR Celebrates 90th Anniversary

Garden City Chapter gives to community organizations in celebration of 90th Anniversary

Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter, Garden City, New York, led by Regent, Carla Hall D'Ambra, met in December to celebrate their Chapter's 90th Anniversary, December 30, 2019.

The Chapter commemorated this major milestone by sharing their happiness with others, in supporting local community groups. Members donated new clothing and baby gifts to support the residents of SAFE CENTER, LI, a haven for women escaping domestic violence. The Chapter also collected birthday party supplies for children at MOMMA's HOUSE, a home for young mothers and their children, so the children may experience the joy and happiness of a birthday celebration. And finally, clothing and hygiene items were donated to support our veterans in area Veteran Patient Medical Centers. Members of the chapter were thrilled to support these efforts. This beautiful initiative was led by Chapter members Heather Zawislak and Deborah McCauley, and the Veterans donations by Arlene Kister.

A highlight of the meeting was a fascinating retrospective slide presentation of the history of the Colonel Aaron Ogden Chapter, complied by 1st Vice Regent Abagael Fagan, which included a 1929 photo of the Chapter's Charter Members. The celebration was capped off by a delicious holiday luncheon of food made by Colonel Aaron Ogden members. It was a wonderful day!
