Coronavirus Forces Nassau Community College To Close
The college is closing today and tomorrow after its first "positive association" with the virus.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Nassau Community College in Garden City canceled in-person classes through Wednesday after the school said it had a "positive association" with the novel coronavirus.
In a message posted to its website, the college said online classes will continue. The school will use the time to "clean the campus according to appropriate guidelines."
"We will work closely with state and county officials to assess the college’s COVID-19 situation and determine when we can resume normal operations," the school wrote. The school has about 11,000 full-time and 7,800 part-time students.

As of this morning, there are 20 confirmed cases of the coronavirus on Long Island, with 19 of them in Nassau County. There are 173 people around the state infected, and dozens on Long Island were ordered into quarantine.
Though the disease is spreading, public officials have urged people not to panic and to go about their daily lives. Still, you should avoid areas with high concentrations of people. If taking the bus or train and you see it is very crowded, wait for the next one if possible, officials said.
