Credit Card Skimmer Found On Supermarket Register: Garden City PD

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Feb. 12.

  • On Feb. 5, Garden City detectives arrested a 32-year-old man from Brooklyn for an outstanding warrant related to a previous Garden City identity theft case that occurred in 2019.
  • Officers investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after striking and damaging another vehicle on Franklin Avenue on Feb. 6.
  • As a result of strong winds on Feb. 7, officers and firefighters responded to calls for sparking wires, alarms, property damage incidents and tree limbs down.
  • Upon investigation of an accident on 7th Street at Cathedral Avenue on Feb. 7, a 41-year-old woman from Great Neck was charged with driving with a suspended license. Two passengers in her car were transported to Winthrop Hospital for back and shoulder injuries.
  • A 45-year-old woman was charged with passing a red light on Rockaway Avenue and driving with a suspended registration on Feb. 7.
  • A 35-year-old woman was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended license and excessive speed on Feb. 7.
  • Officers arrested a 31-year-old woman from Garden City on Feb. 8 for the theft of her boyfriend's medications and another family member's jewelry. She was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
  • A credit card skimmer device was found on a cash register inside Kings Food Market on Feb. 8.
  • A sports bag was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Hilton Avenue driveway on Feb. 9.
  • On Feb. 9, Garden City officers assisted Nassau County Police officers with the arrest of two people, a 23-year-old man from Hempstead and a 19-year-old man from Flushing, for breaking windows to a NCPD booth in Parking Field 13. They were charged with criminal mischief.
  • Officers arrested a 31-year-old woman from Huntington on Nassau Boulevard on Feb. 10 for DWI, excessive speed and unsafe lane usage.
  • A 28-year-old woman was charged with driving on Washington Avenue with a suspended license, tinted windows and defective brake lights on Feb. 10.
  • Firefighters responded to a transformer fire on Boylston Street on Feb. 10 and determined the cause to be a blown fuse.
  • Upon investigation of a stolen check from a Garden City mailbox on Feb. 11, which was altered and rewritten for $2,900, Garden City detectives arrested a 18-year-old woman from the Bronx for grand larceny.
  • As a result of a traffic stop of a commercial vehicle on Jackson Street on Feb. 11, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Queens, was arrested for driving with a revoked license due to a prior DWI and possession of marijuana.
  • Officers responded to Chestnut Street where an eastbound truck struck the train overpass on Feb. 11. There were no injuries reported. The driver of the truck, a 42-year-old man from Queens, was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.
  • A 58-year-old man was charged with driving on South Avenue with a suspended license and defective brake lights on Feb. 11.
