Don't Forget: Garden City's Race for a Cure is Saturday

Annual event is the biggest in the village.

Garden City will lace up their sneakers and Race for a Cure Saturday.

The annual event benefits Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Someday is Today Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and The Michele White Scholarship Fund.

The start and finish line is at Garden City High School and features a 5K and a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The 5K kicks off at 9 a.m. followed by the Fun Run/Walk at 9:15 a.m.

The Garden City Teachers’ Association presents the annual event each year. They have raised more than $100,000 for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and more than $7,000 for Uniting Against Lung Cancer over the history of the event. Learn more here.

The fun doesn’t end at the finish line Saturday. The Carnival for a Cure will follow from 1-4 p.m. at the Garden City Casino to benefit the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund. The whole family can enjoy games, win prizes, snack on carnival foods, win raffles, and participate in the first ever Turtle Derby. Tickets are available here.
