Driver With 14 License Suspensions Arrested: Garden City Police

Officers and detectives investigated a burglary report at a Clinch Avenue residence on Oct. 17. The incident appears to have occurred between 7 and 7:50 p.m. A rear patio door was found open and a watch as well as other pieces of jewelry were discovered missing by the homeowners.
Officers investigated an identity theft on Oct. 18 where someone reportedly used a resident’s personal information to open an unauthorized credit card account and purchase $1,200 in merchandise.
A resident reported on Oct. 18 that her credit card information was used without authorization to purchase sports tickets valued at $1,100.

Officers responded to Parking Field 5 to investigate a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after striking and damaging a ramp to a disabled transport vehicle on Oct. 18. No injuries were reported.
A 24-year-old man from Greenvale was stopped for traffic violations on Clinton Road and Meadow Street on Oct. 19. Upon investigation, the driver was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs, driving with a suspended license due to a prior DWI offense, two counts of possession of a controlled substance (heroin, Xanax) and improper turn.

Loose change was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Cathedral Avenue residence and from a vehicle parked at a Second Street residence on Oct. 21.
A traffic stop investigation on Clinton Road and St. James Street South on Oct. 21 resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old woman from Shirley for driving with 14 license suspensions, unregistered auto and missing front plate.
Officers assisted Garden City firefighters who extinguished a small brush fire on Ring Road on Oct. 21.
On Oct. 22, officers responded to Lord & Taylor and arrested two men from New Hyde Park, ages 56 and 25, for the theft of merchandise valued at $500. They both possessed wire cutters used to remove sensor tags from merchandise. They were both charged with petty larceny and possession of burglar tools.
Upon investigation of the theft of $380 from a patron’s pocketbook inside a Seventh Street restaurant on Oct. 22, Garden City detectives arrested a 28-year-old man from Queens, who was an employee of the restaurant. At the time of his arrest, he was also found to be in possession of Xanax. He was charged with larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Officers responded to Merillon Avenue on Oct. 23, where a vehicle travelling east struck two parked unoccupied vehicles. Upon investigation, the driver, a 28-year-old woman from Little Neck, was arrested for DWI. There were no injuries reported.
Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on New Hyde Park Road on Oct. 23. There were eight vehicles inspected, of which seven were placed out of service. Police issued 71 tickets for various traffic and safety violations, including four unsecured loads, two suspended licenses, one overweight violation and six hazardous material violations.
