Drunk Driver Was More Than Twice Over Legal Limit: Garden City PD

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 30.

• A medical device was reported stolen from a doctor’s office on Franklin Avenue on July 24.
• A bike was reported stolen from a garage on John Street on July 24.
• A safe pedestrian detail was conducted on 7th Street on July 24. Three drivers were issued tickets for failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.
• Upon investigation of a two-vehicle crash on Stewart Avenue on July 25, officers arrested a 24-year-old man from Garden City South for aggravated DWI (more than .18 percent BAC), reckless assault and uninsured operation.
• Money and a bridge pass were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Washington Avenue residence on July 25.
• Officers responded to a traffic condition as a result of a broken railroad gate at the Stewart Manor railroad station crossing on July 26.
• Walgreens employees saw a man steal several bottles of medications from store shelves before fleeing the scene on July 27.
• Officers arrested a 33-year-old man from Garden City on July 27 for the theft of money and property from another family member on multiple occasions. The subject was charged with three counts of grand larceny as well as two outstanding Nassau County warrants for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
• Items were reported stolen from two vehicles parked at the Garden City Hotel on July 28.
• Officers arrested a 50-year-old man from Huntington Station for the theft of a shopping cart from Key Food Marketplace on July 28.
• Firefighters responded to Parking Field 7S and extinguished a small brush fire apparently caused by a faulty electrical transformer on July 28.
• Upon investigation of a suspicious person on Grove Street on July 29, officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Hempstead for an outstanding petty larceny warrant related to a previous theft from a car that occurred on Commercial Avenue in Garden City in 2018.
• Officers investigated reports of a person trespassing on the properties of a Washington Avenue residence and a Pine Street residence.
• Officers arrested a 39-year-old man from Island Park for DWI in Parking Field 2S and on 2nd Street on July 30. He was also charged with driving with defective headlights and a defective muffler.
• Upon investigation of a speeding car on Clinton Road on July 30, officers charged a 42-year-old man from Queens with driving with a suspended license, excessive speed and unregistered vehicle.
