Drunken Driver Caused Crash That Injured 3: Garden City Police

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Dec. 11.
- Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Washington Avenue on Dec. 4 where one of the vehicles left the scene without stopping. Officers located the vehicle on Chestnut Street and upon investigation, the driver, a 31-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for driving with five license suspensions and leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported.
- Lord and Taylor reported a woman entered the store and stole five designer handbags valued at $2,000 on Dec. 4.
- As a result of an investigation on Cathedral Avenue and 1st Street on Dec. 4, a 44-year-old man was charged with driving with three license suspensions.
- Officers responded to CVS on Dec. 5 for a report of a subject stealing beauty products from the store. Upon investigation, officers apprehended the subject, a 57-year-old man from Hempstead, after he boarded a NICE Bus. He was charged with larceny and an outstanding warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
- Officers assisted firefighters who responded to a fire alarm inside an Old Country Road building on Dec. 6. Upon investigation, it was determined that the alarm was activated due to a water leak.
- Officers responded to a Prescott Street home where a rear screen door and a rear window were found damaged on Dec. 7.
- A 22-year-old man was charged with driving with a suspended license and defective headlights on Franklin Avenue on Dec. 7.
- Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Dec. 8 where witnesses said a vehicle traveling west on Stewart Avenue fled the scene after passing a red light and striking a vehicle traveling south on Washington Avenue. Officers located the vehicle on Franklin Avenue and upon investigation, arrested the driver, a 32-year-old man from Hempstead, for DWI and leaving the scene of an accident. The three occupants in the other car were transported to Winthrop Hospital for neck and back injuries.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Stewart Avenue and Sackville Road on Dec. 8, officers arrested a 33-year-old woman from Long Beach for DWI, passing a red traffic light and unsafe lane usage.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Franklin Avenue on Dec. 9, officers arrested a 23-year-old man from New Hyde Park for DWI, unsafe lane usage, and uninsured operation.
- A 2009 Toyota was reported stolen from a Jackson Street driveway on Dec. 9.
- Officers responded to Lord and Taylor on Dec. 10 for a report of a man who stole merchandise valued at $300 from the store and was resisting security officers’ attempts to apprehend him. The officers located the subject, a 58-year-old man from Brooklyn, in Parking Field 11 and arrested him for robbery and resisting arrest.
- Upon investigation of a speeding car on Rockaway Avenue at 4th Street on Dec. 10, officers charged a 25-year-old woman from New Hyde Park with driving with two license suspensions, a suspended registration, uninsured operation, and excessive speed.
