Garden City Bird Sanctuary Exhibits at Garden City Public Library

The Garden City Bird Sanctuary will exhibit a show in the gallery & showcases: "The Garden City Bird Sanctuary's First 15 Years" at the Garden City Public Library from November 2–29, 2010. Exhibits are FREE and open to the public during regular library hours. The public is invited to a reception on Sunday, November 7 from 2:00–4:00 pm. A short film will be shown at 3:00 pm in the program room. For hours and directions phone: 516/742-8405. Funding for gallery & showcase exhibits is provided by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Installation & removal dates are subject to change.

The mission of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary is to manage protected greenspace for environmental stewardship and community services programs. The sanctuary was converted from a weed and trash covered sump during 1995 by thousands of volunteers. The nine acres has received the Outstanding Ecological Program Award and the Merit Award for the Outstanding Volunteer Community.
