Nassau Community College’s Theatre and Dance Department is proud to present the drama “Doubt,” which will be performed April 28 through May 1 and May 5 through May 8 at the Little Theatre.
Â
In “Doubt,” Sister Aloysius, a devout and uncompromising nun, faces off against the charismatic Father Flynn, whom she suspects of sexual misconduct with an altar boy. Audience members must decide whether Sister Aloysius is a source of protection for the children, or whether her dislike of Father Flynn’s progressive methods have clouded her judgment. “Doubt” was winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play, the New York Drama Desk Award for Best New Play and the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play. The drama was eventually performed around the world, including in Great Britain, Singapore, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. In 2008, “Doubt” was made into a film starring Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams. It won five Academy Awards.
Â
Performances of “Doubt” take place at 8:00 p.m. each day except Sunday, when they begin at 3:00 p.m.Â
