Every summer, the Young Adult Department, in cooperation with the Garden City Recreation Department, conducts storytimes on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons in the picnic area of the Garden City Pool. At these storytimes young adults read, sing, and do finger plays and a simple craft with children between the ages of 2 and 8. To insure the quality of the storytimes and the comfort of the storytellers, volunteers are required to attend two training sessions prior to the first summer that they participate. A "Teens and Tots" training session was held at the Library on April 30. A teen who trained previously need only volunteer for the summer dates, and signups began Sunday, May 1.
