Frederick Wedin Honored as 2016 NYS Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Inductee
The NYS Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the Empire State

New York’s Veterans have made countless sacrifices, and we are thankful for their courage and bravery. Frederick Wedin is one of many heroes who have fought to defend our freedoms, and I’m pleased to welcome him into the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
The NYS Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.
Frederick Wedin – “Fred” to his friends and family – joined the United States Navy and was discharged as a third class Petty Officer. During his years of service (1961-1965), he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp. While in service, he participated in the Cuban Blockade crisis and rescued astronauts following their landing in the Atlantic. He currently serves as Quarter Master, soon to become Jr. Vice Commander, of VFW Post 9592, and has been a member since 1984.
Veterans like Fred Wedin are the true protectors of our freedom and democracy, as well as our state and nation. We owe them our deep gratitude.
