Fugitive From Pennsylvania Arrested In Garden City: Police

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Dec. 18.

  • Upon investigation of a suspicious person on Franklin Avenue at 3 a.m. on Dec. 11, officers arrested a 47-year-old man from Garden City Park for an outstanding Nassau County warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Upon investigation of a vehicle passing a Stop sign on St. James Street South at Prospect Avenue on Dec. 11, officers arrested a 32-year-old man for felony possession of a weapon (expandable baton), an outstanding Nassau County Larceny Warrant, and passing a stop sign.
  • As a result of a domestic incident investigation on Dec. 11, Garden City detectives arrested a 44-year-old man from Garden City for filing a false police report and endangering the welfare of his two children.
  • Garden City firefighters responded to a Franklin Avenue restaurant on Dec. 11 for a garbage can fire in a restroom.
  • A vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Stewart Avenue struck another vehicle traveling westbound on Dec. 12. Upon investigation, the driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 30-year-old woman from Bellmore, was arrested for DWI. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Winthrop Hospital for a back injury.
  • As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Stewart Avenue on Dec. 12, a 51-year-old man was arrested as a fugitive from justice from Pennsylvania in regards two outstanding warrants for DWI and receiving stolen property. He was also charged with covered license plate, switched license plates, and unregistered vehicle.
  • A vehicle was stopped for speeding on Cathedral Avenue at 4th Street on Dec. 12. Upon investigation, the driver, a 56-year-old man from West Hempstead, was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
  • Credit cards were reported stolen from a locker at the NY Sports Club on Dec. 13.
  • A package was reported stolen from the front porch of a Wellington Road residence on Dec. 13.
  • Upon receiving an alert from a police vehicle license plate reader on Dec. 13, a 27-year-old woman from Franklin Square was charged with driving on Cherry Valley Avenue with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
  • A 34-year-old man from Freeport was arrested on Franklin Avenue for DWI and defective tail lights on Dec. 14.
  • A check placed in a mailbox on Lefferts Road was intercepted and rewritten to another person on Dec. 14.
  • An unknown vehicle drove on the property of a Stewart Avenue residence on Dec. 14, damaging the lawn and numerous hedges.
  • A minivan reportedly left the scene after being involved in a three-vehicle crash on Old Country Road on Dec. 14.
  • A Smithtown Carting Company was cited for the operation of a sanitation truck on Old Country Road on Dec. 14 with multiple overweight violations as well as allowing debris from the truck to spill onto the roadway.
  • As a result of a domestic incident investigation on Dec. 15, a 38-year-old man from Garden City was arrested for damaging the property of another family member. He was charged with criminal mischief.
  • As a result of a traffic stop of a commercial vehicle on Cathedral Avenue on Dec. 16, a 41-year-old man from the Bronx was charged with driving with a suspended license as well as multiple equipment violations.
  • Upon receiving an alert from a police vehicle license plate reader on Dec. 16, a 35-year-old woman from Huntington Station was charged with driving on Cherry Valley Avenue with a suspended registration, unregistered operation, and uninspected vehicle.
  • A Central Islip construction company was issued an appearance ticket for soliciting on Kilburn Road on Dec. 16.
  • Upon investigation of a domestic incident that occurred on Hilton Avenue on Dec. 17, officers arrested a 21-year-old man from West Hempstead for stealing property from his girlfriend as well as kicking and damaging her vehicle. He was charged with criminal mischief and larceny.
  • A Nassau Boulevard resident reported hearing a noise outside her residence at 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, and when she checked, she saw a man kicking the front door. The subject fled the area when the resident called the police. The subject is described as a male, 6’, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, brown jacket, dark colored jeans, and work boots.
  • Upon investigation of a report of a suspicious vehicle on Tanners Pond Road on Dec. 18, officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Queens for DWI.
