Fun Abounds at Senior Skit Night

Garden City's senior class parents presented a night of skits to entertain their children during the senior dance.

There is a lot to be said about the traditions that Garden City High School carries forward each year with the support of parents, students, school administration and the PTA.

None, however, is as much fun as the annual Senior Dance, which includes Parent Skit Night. As the proud parent of three children who have gone through the Garden City school system, and having now participated in three Skit Nights, it is amazing to see the continued enthusiasm and excitement that the night brings to not only the students but for the parents themselves.

This year was even more extraordinary because of the tremendous turnout of the parents that wanted to be involved in the evening festivities. No easy task to coordinate a 45-minute ‘amateur variety show’ for more than 90 cast members but Patty Zarriello and Anne Fehmel, co-chairs for the night, made it a tremendous success.

From all the planning and prep work, the coordination of practices leading up to dress rehearsal and ultimately the live performance, the night produced many high points.

With Bob Engelke and Tom Wright manning the microphone, the seniors were kept entertained throughout the evening, as skit after skit was presented and performed by the very talented, professional looking and colorfully costumed parents.

Without exposing any details, since many of the skits will be performed for future graduating classes, the night was filled with good music, many belly laughs and cheers and a thrilling ending!
