Garden City Chamber, Winthrop Hosting Diabetes Seminar
June 19 program will focus on how to avoid and manage disease.

The Garden City Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Winthrop University Hospital to present a series of health-related seminars open to members of the Chamber and to the general public.
Diabetes is an epidemic health issue impacting quality of life and often leads to debilitating effects of the eyes, feet and other organs. The great news is that it is a very manageable disease and knowledge can empower you to avoid life-altering complications of diabetes. Learn “How to Avoid It and How to Stay Healthy if You Have It.”
Please join us at this seminar at the Garden City Hotel, on Tuesday, June 19 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Dr. Nazanin Barzideh, Chief of Vitreoretinal Surgery at Winthrop, along with Lynne Chimon, MS, RD, CDE, CDN, Director of Winthrop’s Diabetes Education Center, Dr. Philip Palmeri, Chief of Podiatry at Winthrop and Dr. Tom Rostkowski, Winthrop Wound Healing Center Podiatrist will speak on the current and future trends and address what you can do to maximize your health and wellness. Our professional speakers will address your concerns and answer questions from the audience. A continental breakfast will be served, courtesy of Winthrop-University Hospital and educational materials will be available.

The program is open to people with diabetes, those who support them in their efforts to manage this complex disease, and to those who wish to learn how to avoid it.
