The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending May 1.
- A 39-year-old woman from Massapequa was arrested on Stewart Avenue on April 24 for felony DWI (due to a prior conviction for DWI) and unsafe lane usage.
- Numerous items in the Bird Sanctuary, including birdhouses, feeders, a fence and a bench, were found damaged on April 24.
- On April 25, A 27-year-old man from Westbury was arrested on Old Country Road for DWI, unsafe lane usage, defective headlights, aggravated unlicensed operation (suspended license), unregistered vehicle and uninspected vehicle.
- Upon a traffic investigation on Hilton Avenue and Hamilton Place on April 25, officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Mineola for criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of hypodermic instruments, obstructing governmental administration and passing a red traffic light.
- Officers arrested a 33-year-old man from West Hempstead at the Garden City Hotel on April 26 for intentionally damaging a coffee table. He was also found to be in violation of a court order to stay away from another family member. He was charged with criminal mischief and criminal contempt.
- Officers responded to a Garden City restaurant on April 26 for a report of a man fleeing the scene after attempting to pay for a meal with a forged credit card.
- Officers arrested three women from Queens, ages 58, 33 and 27, for the theft of merchandise valued at $1,350 at Lord & Taylor on April 27.
- The department participated in the DEA National Drug Take Back Day at Police Headquarters on April 27. Two large boxes of unwanted, unused and expired medications were collected.
- As a result of a domestic incident investigation at a Garden City home on April 28, officers arrested a 32-year-old woman from Florida for choking and assaulting another family member. She was charged with assault and criminal obstruction of an airway.
- Officers investigated a report of a road rage incident on Jefferson Street on April 28 where a vehicle collided with another vehicle and drove away without stopping.
- On April 29, upon notification of an erratic driver, an officer stopped a vehicle for unsafe lane changes and driving on the wrong side of the road on Clinton Road. Upon investigation, the driver, a 29-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for DWI, unlicensed operation, unsafe lane change and driving on the wrong side of pavement markings.
- An officer stopped a car on Clinton Road for speeding (65 MPH) on April 29. Upon investigation, the driver, a 25-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation (license suspended for a prior DWI arrest and failure to answer a summons) and excessive speed.
- A truck traveling south on Cherry Valley Avenue struck the train overpass on April 29. The truck was damaged; no injuries were reported. The driver, a 39-year-old man from West Babylon, was charged with disobeying bridge clearance signs.
- Officers investigated a two-vehicle crash on Rockaway Avenue on April 30, resulting in the arrest of one of the drivers, a 46-year-old man from Floral Park, for Driving While Impaired by Drugs. No injuries were reported.
