Garden City Holding Meeting On St. Paul's Plans

The village wants to transform the main building, and wants to make sure the community is involved.

The Garden City Board of Trustees will be holding a meeting next month to get public input on what should be done with the main building at the former St. Paul's School.

The St. Paul's School was a longtime Episcopal school for boys. The Episcopal Diocese went bankrupt in 1991, and the village received the school and all 48 acres of property in negotiations. Since then, the village has used the athletic fields and facilities on the grounds, but has not had a use for the main building.

The Board of Trustees are working with architectural and engineering firms to create concepts to use the building for recreational, performance and community-based activities. And it wants public input.

The first of several public presentations is currently scheduled for Tuesday, July 17. The presentation will consist of pictures, slides and video presentations, and experts will be on-hand to answer questions. All materials presented at the meeting will also be available on the village's website.
