A vehicle turned onto the tracks at the Clinton Railroad crossing and became wedged on the rails on Dec. 28. Traffic in the area was detoured until the MTA Police Department's Emergency Services Unit was able to remove the vehicle from the tracks.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Hempstead on Franklin Avenue for DWI and driving on the wrong side of pavement markings on Dec. 29.

Officers responded to a Harrison Street home and assisted the fire department with a smoke condition caused by a defective clothes dryer on Dec. 29.

Upon investigation of a Dec. 14, incident, a 36-year-old man from Queens was arrested on Dec. 30 for the theft of an artificial tree, valued at $500, from Sears.

On Dec. 30, officers investigated the theft of a package from the porch of a Mulberry Road residence. The robber was a 6-foot-tall man wearing a gray sweat shirt, jeans, glasses and a baseball cap; he was driving a gray four door sedan.

Garden City firefighters assisted the New Hyde Park Fire Department with a serious residential fire on 12th Street on Dec. 30.

Officers investigated an identity theft reported on Dec. 31 where someone opened an unauthorized credit card account using a resident’s personal information without permission.

Officers located a lost elderly person walking on Wetherill Road and returned him to his family in Mineola on Dec. 31.

A vehicle was stopped for multiple aggressive driving violations on First Street and Rockaway Avenue on Jan. 1, resulting in the arrest of the driver, a 31-year-old man from Queens, for DWI, excessive speed (73 MPH), unsafe lane use, unsafe turn and uninsured operation.

A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Euston Road residence on Jan. 1.

Officers assisted Garden City firefighters at a Stewart Avenue apartment building for a leaking gas condition caused by a faulty stove on Jan. 1. There were no injuries reported.
