Garden City Teen Threatened Family Member: Police

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Jan. 21.
- On Jan. 15, an officer stopped a vehicle for passing a school bus on 4th Street. Upon investigation, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Garden City Park, was charged with driving with six license suspensions and the passing school bus violation.
- Officers investigated a report of a man entering a vehicle and rummaging through the contents of the glove box on Jan. 15. There was no loss reported.
- On Jan. 15, a 7th Street business reported multiple fraudulent checks were written against the company’s checking account.
- As a result of a domestic incident investigation on Jan. 16, officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Garden City for threatening to injure another family member in violation of a court order and damaging multiple items inside the family member’s home. He was charged with criminal contempt, menacing, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Clinton Road on Jan. 17, officers charged a 42-year-old man with four license suspensions/revocations, unregistered vehicle and a license plate violation.
- Upon investigation of an erratic driver on Stewart Avenue and Kildare Road on Jan. 18, officers arrested a 31-year-old man from Elmont for DWI, two unsafe lane usage violations and unregistered vehicle.
- On Jan. 18, officers investigated a report of an unauthorized transfer of $24,000 from a resident's bank account to another account.
- As a result of icy roads and winter storm conditions on Jan. 18, officers and firefighters responded to numerous reports of auto accidents, property damage reports, hazardous road conditions and disabled vehicles.
- As a result of an accidental power line break at a 3TC construction site in Garden City Park on Jan. 18, officers and firefighters responded to multiple reports of power outages, alarms and traffic light malfunctions at various Garden City locations.
- Officers investigated the theft of a cell phone from a shopper's pocketbook inside Lord & Taylor on Jan. 19.
- A resident reported someone made multiple unauthorized ATM withdrawals against his debit card account on Jan. 20.
- On Jan. 21, officers arrested a 53-year-old man from Hempstead for the theft of merchandise valued at $352 from Lord & Taylor. Upon investigation, it was determined, earlier in the day, the man stole merchandise valued at $88 from Walgreens. He was charged with two counts of petty larceny.
- A resident reports a fraudulent check for $4,700 was written against her bank account on Jan. 21.
- Officers were able to free a person who was locked inside a Franklin Avenue parking garage on Jan. 21.
