Garden City's Andrew M. Thaler Named 2012 Super Lawyer

Andrew M.Thaler of Garden City, NY and Founding Partner of the East Meadow law firm, Thaler Gertler, has been selected as one of the New York – Metro area 2012 Super Lawyers top attorneys for his excellence in bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights. Only five percent of the lawyers in the state are recognized for this honor by their peers and this professional organization.

“Being recognized by one’s peers for being a professional who has achieved a certain level of aptitude and legal competence in his chosen field of practice is rewarding,” said Thaler.

The depth of experience Thaler has gained from handling diverse debtor and creditor rights and insolvency and complex bankruptcy matters, has earned him a reputation as a skilled professional. His nearly 30 years of practice and experience as a federally appointed bankruptcy trustee since 1990 have earned him the respect of his clients and peers.

“My firm and I focus our efforts on providing service to individuals and businesses facing bankruptcies and insolvency. We offer counsel and thoroughness of service that clients deserve, especially in today’s challenging economy. To be selected a Super Lawyer by my colleagues validates our firm’s client-focused philosophy,” added Thaler.

Every year, the research team at Super Lawyers carries out a rigorous selection process that includes a survey of lawyers across the state and an evaluation of the Super Lawyer candidates by an attorney-led research staff. Each candidate must be in good standing within the legal profession.

Thaler represents debtors, creditors, trustees and creditor committees in commercial Chapter 11 and 7 cases, consumers in Chapter 7 and 13 cases. His clients represent professional and service businesses, manufacturing and retail companies, financial institutions and others. As a federally appointed Panel Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, Thaler has presided over approximately twenty thousand bankruptcy cases. He serves as a Mediator/Neutral for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District and the Mediation Panel of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, Nassau County.

Thaler is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell and L.I. Pulse Magazine as one of the region’s “Top Legal Eagles” for three consecutive years.
