Gas Leak Affects Apartment Building: Garden City Police

Here are all of the incidents that the Garden City Police Department reported for the week ending May 28.
- Garden City detectives arrested a 48-year-old woman from Uniondale on May 22 for leaving the scene of an accident. The incident occurred on Ring Road on May 12.
- A woman said she left her designer purse on a table at a 7th Street restaurant on May 22 and when she returned it was missing.
- Officers investigated a report of a white box truck leaving the scene after being in a collision with another vehicle on Franklin Avenue on May 23.
- Detectives arrested a 22-year-old man from Stewart Manor on May 23 for leaving the scene of an accident. The incident occurred on Jefferson Street on April 28.
- A 27-year-old man from Elmont was arrested on Old Country Road for possession of marijuana and inoperable taillights on May 24.
- A vehicle was reported stolen from a Lincoln Street residence on May 25. Nassau County Fifth Precinct Officers located the vehicle in Elmont and arrested the two occupants, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from Elmont. Both were charged with grand larceny.
- A GPS was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on 5th Place on May 25.
- A wallet was reported stolen from an office inside the Garden City Hotel on May 26.
- Due to heavy rainfall, officers responded to flooding conditions on Sunset Lane, Cherry Valley Avenue and Meadow Street on May 26.
- Firefighters and officers responded to a Stewart Avenue apartment building for a report of an odor of gas on May 26. A small leak was discovered and corrected by firefighters.
- A bag containing clothing was reported stolen from a car parked at a Stratford Avenue home on May 27.
- A man was seen entering the lobby of a 7th Street apartment building and stealing a newspaper on May 27.
- Officers responded to 7th Street for a report of a suspicious unattended backpack on May 27. Upon investigation, the item contained personal property and was released to the owner who returned to the scene.
- Firefighters responded to a Garden City home for a report of a barbecue grill fire on May 27.
- A 44-year-old man from Glen Cove was arrested on Clinton Road on May 28 for two counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (driver’s license revocations for two prior DWI related offenses), unlicensed operation and obstructed windshield.
