Girl Scouts of Nassau County Celebrate Nearly a Century of Cookie Sales
Local Girl Scouts are now accepting cookie orders, while keeping 2014-2015 prices

Garden City, NY (December 15, 2015) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) will launch the highly-anticipated Girl Scout Cookie™ season on Friday, December 18, 2015. Over the course of nearly a century of Girl Scouts Cookie™ sales, Troops have learned the five skills needed in both life and business: goal setting, decision making, money management, business ethics, and people skills. This will be the second season of Digital Cookie, the first national digital platform that allows girls to sell cookies and learn 21st-century business skills, in addition to the continued tradition of taking paper orders. Cookies will be sold at the same prices as the 2014-2015 season, at $4 (with gluten-free cookies at $5.)
This year girls will be participating in Digital Cookie 2.0 which includes a more robust, hands-on learning experience, including an enhanced Cookie website, as well as new mobile sales technology to complement the national platform website. Digital Cookie 2.0 also has a game-changing addition of a mobile sales app which will expands girls’ ability to take their sales on the go. Using handheld devices like phones or tablets, girls will approach customers, take orders, and complete sales using digital order forms that allow for direct shipping to customers.
“As much as cookie lovers look forward to this time of year when they can buy a box of Thin Mints® or Samosas®, two classic favorites, we look forward to our Girl Scout’s experiencing what it’s like to run their own Girl Scout Cookie business,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. “Now, with digital sales integrated into the selling process, girls have even a greater opportunity to learn skills to help them in their future careers.”

Girl Scouts from Nassau County begin their individual sale campaigns in which they can take traditional orders and online orders, before launching booth sales in February. Customers can locate the Girl Scout Cookies® booth sale nearest to them using the online Girl Scout Cookie® locator or by downloading the mobile app. Additionally, orders can be placed through the Digital Order Card, which also allows customers to pay by a credit card and have cookies shipped directly to their home or donated to charity.
“100 percent of the net revenue earned from the Girl Scout Cookie Program remains within the local Girl Scout Council,” added Ceravolo. “Together, the girls in each Troop decide how to spend their Cookie money, either to put towards community service, pay for program supplies, activities or group travel to build the Girl Scout experience. Additionally, the program has built-in rewards for girls to earn based on their individual sales as way to teach them to work toward reaching a goal.”
