Garden City, NY (October, 2015) – The Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) are businesswomen in the making as they practice fundamental business skills during the annual Mags&Munchies Program running from now until October 23, 2015. The Mags&Munchies program presents the opportunity for girls to learn goal setting, money management, business ethics, decision making and people skills, while they earn funds for their Troops.

“Mags&Munchies is a fantastic opportunity to teach girls life skills through the business aspect, while also exercising the ability to give back to others,” said Girl Scouts of Nassau County President and CEO Donna Ceravolo. “This program has grown over the years and has become a favorite time of year for our Troop members. Our girls feel proud to send local military veterans magazines to show their appreciation through ‘Project Thank You’ or by dropping off treats to the Island Harvest to help ‘Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island.’”

Every year GSNC sells the popular Mags&Munchies line, offering a variety of snacks ranging from chocolate treats, dry fruit and nut snacks, candies, magazine subscriptions to over 600 publications and photo keepsakes. All Mags&Munchies items make excellent gifts for anyone and everyone. Joining the ranks of the already-popular Mags&Munchies product line this year are the Honey Mustard Pretzel Nuts and Dark Carmel Caps with Sea Salt.

Donate $5.00 through “Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island” and the GSNC will send tasty treats to Island Harvest for distribution to local food pantries.

With “Project Thank You!” customers can send local military veterans a subscription to a magazine of their choice. Last year, Troops received 11,140 donations of $5 each, which equated to 360 vouchers for annual magazine subscriptions that were distributed to military personal and aim to exceed that goal this year. Magazine subscriptions can be purchased or renewed online as well as donations to “Operation: Stop Hunger on Long Island” and “Project Thank You” at www.gsnc.org. Girls Scouts will be taking orders and hosting booth sales throughout Nassau County until October 23, 2015.

We’re the Girl Scouts of Nassau County: We’re 27, 000 strong – 27, 000 girls and adults who believe every girl from Nassau County can change the world. It began over 100 years ago with one woman, Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low, who believed in the power of every girl. Today, we continue her vision of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place by helping them discover their inner strength, passion and talents. And with programs in Nassau County, across Long Island and throughout the United States, there’s a chance for every girl to do something amazing. We’re the Girl Scouts.
