Great Escape: Antiquing in Garden City

Spend the day antiquing and be home for the school bus.

Is your routine getting a little monotonous? Before you commit to one more thing, think about doing something for yourself.

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, make your life a little easier or simply have some fun.

Do you love canvassing antique flea markets and shops but feel you just don’t have the time? Missed the famed Brimfield Antique Flea Market last year again? No worries, you’ll find a trove of antiquing right here in town.

Start your antiquing day at You're Invited, an estate sale and consignment shop, located at 839 Stewart Avenue. Owner Tracy Jordan, who also runs estate sales, has an eye for unique collectibles, lovely antiques and vintage furnishings.

Next stop is the High Top Shop, operated by local charity The Andy Foundation. The shop is located at 671 Franklin Avenue and is filled to the brim with beautiful decorative home accessories, jewelry and more. Proceeds benefit The Andy Foundation to help children in need.

Head south on Franklin Avenue to Prilik Galleries, which specializes in antique timepieces and clocks, furniture, fine arts and decorative accessories. While you're in that neck of the woods, don't pass up Ann Madonia Antiques on Seventh Street. The shop offers preserved antique furniture and assorted room ornamentation; paintings and lamps can also be purchased.

Last stop - the A. T. Stewart Exchange, where you’ll find antiques, collectibles, jewelry, furniture, china and more. Better yet, the shop is located on the lower level of the Garden City Historical Society Museum at 109 Eleventh Street. Profits benefit the restoration of the museum.
