Hempstead Man Caught Driving Drunk With Two Kids in Car: Cops
The man was pulled over after he was seen driving erratically and in the wrong direction, police say.
HEMPSTEAD, NY - A Hempstead man was arrested for driving drunk with two kids in the car in Hempstead on Friday morning, according to Nassau Police.
Hempstead Police saw 32-year-old Nelson A. Dormes-Montoya erratically driving a 2002 Ford Escape eastbound on Jackson Street, police said.
He was seen crossing over the double yellow lines and driving in the wrong direction at about 5 a.m., police said.

After a vehicle and traffic stop, police found that Dormes-Montoya was driving drunk with three passengers in the car that included a 15-year-old girl and a 5-year-old, according to police.
He was placed under arrest without incident.

Dormes-Montoya is charged with two counts of DWI, two counts of aggravated DWI with a child (Leandra’s Law) and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
He will be arraigned on Friday.
