Hofstra Student Falls 30 Feet In Skateboard Accident

HEMPSTEAD, NY – A 20-year-old Hofstra University student was seriously injured in a skateboard accident on the campus in Hempstead late Sunday night, Nassau Police said.

The student, who police are not naming, was riding his skateboard across the walkway on the elevated footbridge across Hempstead Turnpike when he hit a stairway's protective railing at 11:26 p.m., police said.

The student flipped over the railing and fell about 30 feet to the ground, police said. He suffered a fractured skull and was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
