Investigation Leads To Drug Arrest: Garden City Police

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Nov. 20.

  • Loose change was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Roosevelt Street driveway on Nov. 13.
  • Officers responded to Washington Avenue and Meadow Street for a traffic signal light malfunction on Nov. 13.
  • A 49-year-old man was cited for driving with a suspended license and excessive speed on Cathedral Avenue on Nov. 13.
  • A Whitehall Boulevard resident reported someone entered her car and went through the contents of the glovebox on Nov. 14. There is no reported loss.
  • Officers investigated the reported theft of a pocketbook which was left on a chair inside the Garden City Library on Nov. 14.
  • A truck traveling south struck the Cherry Valley overpass on Nov. 14, causing damage to its load. The driver, a 21-year-old man, was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.
  • Three traffic tickets were issued on Clinton Road to drivers for not securing children under the age of four in child restraint seats on Nov. 14.
  • Officers investigated a report of a grand larceny on Nov. 15. A resident reported receiving a scam phone call from someone purporting to be from the Social Security office. The caller knew the victim’s social security number and stated the number was being used by other people. The caller convinced the victim to purchase assorted gift cards and provide the card/pin numbers in order to correct the situation.
  • As a result of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a 27-year-old woman from Uniondale for one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance with intent to sell and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance on Nov. 15.
  • Officers investigated reports of identity theft on Nov. 16. One instance involved the opening of an unauthorized cell phone account and the other involved disconnecting a wireless account and opening a new one with victim’s personal information.
  • On Nov. 17, detectives arrested a 31-year-old man from Roosevelt for leaving the scene of an auto accident, which occurred on Franklin Avenue on Nov. 7. Upon investigation, it was determined the man was wanted by the Nassau County Police Department for a burglary that occurred in the 1st Precinct.
  • Officers investigated a report of identity theft on Nov. 18. The victim reported a credit card account was opened using his personal information, as well as multiple attempts to open additional credit card accounts using his personal information.
  • A Hilton Avenue business reported an unauthorized cell phone account was opened in the company’s name on Nov. 19.
