Kase & Druker Partner, Elizabeth Kase, Named by Long Island Business News as One of Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business for 2013

Elizabeth S. Kase, partner with leading boutique law firm Kase & Druker, has been honored by Long Island Business News as one of the publication’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business for 2013. The 2013 honorees will be recognized at a dinner on Oct. 17, 2013, at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Launched in 2000, the Top 50 program recognizes the Island’s top women professionals in business, education, government and the not-for-profit fields for their business acumen, mentoring and community involvement. Ms. Kase was honored as a trailblazer for women attorneys in the significantly male-dominated business of criminal law and for her long-time contributions to the fields of white-collar defense. She was also recognized for her public service advocacy work pertaining to the rights of juvenile offenders and women who have been victims of domestic violence.

As a partner with Kase & Druker, a law firm co-founded by her father, Hon. John L. Kase in 1978, Ms. Kase represents clients in matters ranging from misdemeanors, such as DWI and drug offenses, to complex white-collar felonies, including mortgage fraud, insider trading, and large-scale corporate embezzlement schemes in state and federal court.

Ms. Kase is also deeply committed to helping advance the juvenile justice system. As a criminal defense attorney, she has witnessed first-hand how the treatment of juvenile offenders in the criminal justice system can significantly alter the course of these adolescents’ lives. She serves on the board of the North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center and lectures frequently on the topic to help raise awareness of the issue. She is also an advocate for women who have been victim of domestic violence, volunteering for Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and serving as pro bono counsel for women who are falsely accused of being the aggressor in their abusive relationships.

“I am deeply honored that Long Island Business News has selected me to be part of this year’s Top 50 ranking for Most Influential Women in Business,” said Elizabeth S. Kase, partner with Kase & Druker. “To be named by the same publication as one of Long Island’s ‘40 Rising Stars Under 40’ just six years ago and now, to be included in the esteemed company of such powerful women leaders in our community, is truly humbling. It further motivates me to continue my work as a criminal defense attorney and to serve as an advocate for juveniles and women who aren’t in a position financially or otherwise to advocate for themselves.”

Prior to joining Kase & Druker, Ms. Kase served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office under the legendary Robert M. Morgenthau. As Assistant District Attorney, she successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases pertaining to sex crimes, domestic violence, narcotics, cyber-crime, and complex white-collar felonies.

In 2011, Ms. Kase was selected as the Nassau County Democratic Committee nominee for county court judge and was endorsed by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and her organization, OffTheSidelines, which supports and encourages women to run for public office. Her race helped to raise awareness of the fact that only two of the 15 judges in Nassau County were women, and had an impact on the future election of women judges.

Ms. Kase currently serves as Village Justice of Baxter Estates in Port Washington and is a member of numerous professional associations and organizations: Criminal Courts Bar Association, Nassau County, Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, Yashar, Hadassah, Theodore Roosevelt American Inn of Court, Nassau County Chapter, Nassau County Bar Association, Member of Nassau Crime Lab Investigative/Legislative Committee, New York State Defenders Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Partnership to Advance Women Leaders.
