LI Postman Stole Residents' Mail To Fund Shopping Sprees: DA
The postman and his girlfriend made high-end purchases at Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom in the Roosevelt Field Mall.

A United States Postal Service letter carrier and his girlfriend, an NYPD school safety agent, were arrested on Tuesday for their roles involved in stealing credit cards found in Long Island residents' mail using the cards to go on lavish shopping sprees, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.
Naquan Wilson, 28, and Shantavia Davis, 33, both of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, were arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges related to this scam.
“[Wilson and Davis] are charged with stealing Nassau residents’ mail and using stolen credit cards to fund shopping sprees for luxury goods from Louboutin shoes to high-end electronics,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

According to Singas, the investigation began when her office received information that Garden City residents had not received the credit cards that were sent to their addresses. The DA contacted the Garden City Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspectors, both of which had similar complaints on file.
An investigation determined that between August 2017 and Tuesday, Jan. 23, Wilson used his Post Office job to steal more than 30 envelopes with credit cards that were supposed to be delivered on his route and other routes, the DA said. Wilson has been a postal employee since 2013, and used to deliver mail in Garden City.

To activate the cards, Wilson allegedly used the CVV and CVC numbers on the back of the card and Bitcoin to pay for personal information on the dark web.
"Not only did [Wilson] allegedly steal, but he recruited external players, such as Ms. Davis to help him carry out his crimes," Inspector in Charge Phillip Bartlett said.
Wilson and Davis then allegedly made high-end purchases, some of which were made in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom in the Roosevelt Field Mall. Officials say the purchases included Gucci fragrances, Zanotti shoes, Christian Louboutin shoes and wallet, electronics such as Apple MacBooks and Beats wireless headphones and much more.
The DA added that Wilson leases a 2014 Maserati Quattroporte, a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder and owns a 2006 Honda Pilot. Davis has a 2013 BMW 328i.
Six pieces of mail addressed to Garden City addresses and containing credit cards were recovered from Wilson at the time of his arrest, Singas said. More than $29,000 in cash and two guns were also recovered from Wilson and Davis’ New Jersey home following the execution of a search warrant, the DA said.
Wilson was charged with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seven counts of second-degree forgery, seven counts of first-degree identity theft and third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification information. Davis was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, seven counts of second-degree forgery, seven counts of first-degree identity theft and third-degree unlawful possession of personal identification information.
Both are due back in court on Jan. 23. Wilson faces up to 15 years in prison, and Davis faces up to seven years.
