Lacrosse Unlimited Coming to Garden City

Popular sports store will occupy former home of Bagelman on Franklin Avenue.

With such a focus on lacrosse in Garden City it's no surprise Lacrosse Unlimited is making its way to the village's business district, according to John Wilton, chair of the Merchants, Professionals & Retailers group.

The popular sports store, which currently has three other Nassau County locations (East Meadow, Manhasset and Rockville Centre), will soon occupy 664 Franklin Avenue, home to Bagelman since the 1980s before Ken Mataix made the move to 162 Seventh Street this year.

"That's great news John," Mayor Robert Rothschild said in response to Wilton's announcement."I could never understand why a lacrosse store was never in the Village of Garden City."

Lacrosse Unlimited offers a vast array of products, including men's, women's and youth equipment and apparel, footwear, custom strung and dyed heads and more.

In further business news, Wilton said a dry cleaning store – not a tanning salon – is moving into the former Seventh Street shoe shop and a lease is pending at 960 Franklin Avenue next to Grimaldi's, which has been vacant for five-and-a-half years. Wilton did not specify what type of business would be occupying the space.
