Leo's: Serving Up Family Fun For 70 Years and Counting

There is outside dining with about a dozen tables at Leo's on the corner of Seventh and Franklin. This brick corner building has housed the pub for almost seven decades. The atmosphere is homey and includes old photographs, sports memorabilia and caricatures made by a customer of years gone by. There is a historic feel to the pub with old newspaper headlines and vintage signs.

Opened in 1942, Leo's doors are open seven days a week from 11:30 – 2 a.m. except Friday and Saturday when it closes at 4 a.m. When Patch arrived at 1:30 p.m. on a sunny Saturday, the bar crowd was large and lively. Professional sports galvanized all four TVs and people were munching on bar food.  

Leo's touts their food as being Traditional American Cuisine and their atmosphere as casual and family friendly. There is a kids menu where for $8.50 little ones can get typical kiddy fare – chicken finger and fries, a hot dog or pizza and a soft drink.

When you click on Leo's website, the melodic Cheers theme song plays when you click on the "About Us" link. There is an option to order online but it is presently disabled.  However, all menus are on the website ... lunch, dinner, brunch and late night.  

For $16.95 brunch is a great bargain. In addition to unlimited Bloody Mary's Mimosas or Irish coffee, bagels and muffins are served up along standard brunch fare like Steak and Eggs, French toast, omelets and Eggs Benedict. Kids can join mom and dad or grandma and grandpa at brunch for $9.99.

Leo's has been serving Garden City residents for generations and the lively crowd Saturday was indicative that fun is always ready and waiting at this neighborhood pub.
