LI Man Killed In Christmas Hit-And-Run In NYC

Police say they found the man lying in the street after he was hit by a truck.

A Hempstead man was killed in a hit-and-run in South Ozone Park in Queens last night.

According to the New York City Police Department, Ainsley Dalrymple, 67, of Claredon Road, Hempstead, was crossing Rockaway Boulevard near 114th Street around 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by a truck that fled the scene. Police arrived at the scene and found him lying between two parked cars with severe head and body trauma.

Dalrymple was taken by ambulance to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say an investigation has showed that a silver or grey Toyota truck heading west on Rockaway Boulevard struck Dalrymple while he was crossing, and then fled the scene.

The NYPD says the investigation is ongoing.
