Describes Assistant Executive Director Matt Zebatto: "COVID has been extremely difficult for the developmental disabilities and autism community. Group homes have been under lockdowns for many weeks with a constant concern about sanitizing and cleaning facilities to prevent any spread of infection or contagion. Regular schedules and functions were disrupted. Our staff went above and beyond, demonstrating their dedication to make sure our population has been safe and risks have been minimized."
LIFE'S WORC/THE FAMILY CENTER FOR AUTISM was established fifty years ago by NY media executive Victoria Schneps, with help from broadcast journalist icon Geraldo Rivera. Today, this non-profit agency operates a network of 42 group residences in Suffolk, Nassau, eastern Queens, and Manhattan, along with a variety of specialized programs providing services to some 2500 people with developmental disabilities and autism.
