Local Business Update: Garden City's Downtown

Some new businesses are interested in calling Garden City home.

Several new prospective tenants are interested in calling Garden City's business district home, according to John Wilton, chair of the village's Merchants, Professionals and Retailers group.

A new Italian deli could open at 180 Seventh Street, former home of Hoffmann's Deli, which closed in March, while Sugar Plum of Lynbrook could soon occupy 181 Seventh Street next to Chico's in the space vacated by Personal Training Institute, which recently made a move to neighboring Mineola.

A "German-themed" restaurant, according to Wilton, may open up next to Madison Taylor Salon on Franklin Avenue, where Village Valet formerly did business.
