Man With 14 License Suspensions Arrested After Crash: GCPD

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 10.

  • As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Rockaway Avenue on July 2, a 22-year-old man from Hempstead was charged with driving a truck with a fictitious inspection sticker, leaking gas containers, unsafe tires and no highway use tax permit.
  • Numerous recently planted bushes were reported stolen from the lawn of a 9th Street home on July 3.
  • Credit cards were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Meadow Street on July 3.
  • As a result of a safe pedestrian detail on 7th Street on July 3, three drivers were cited for failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, one was cited for illegal U-turn and one was charged with driving with a suspended license.
  • Upon investigation of a report of an erratic driver on Meadow Street on July 4, officers arrested a 45-year-old man from Queens for DWI, passing a stop sign and two unsafe lane use violations.
  • Officers responded to a Kenwood Road home on July 4 for a Ring Camera notification of a person in the rear yard. The area was searched; a person was not located. The investigation is ongoing.
  • As a result of an investigation on North Avenue on July 5, officers arrested a 21-year-old man from Farmingdale for two counts of criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell (cocaine) and criminal possession of marijuana.
  • Officers removed a large tree branch from the roadway on New Hyde Park Road on July 5.
  • Minor damage was reportedly found on a Garden City Country Club maintenance shed on July 6.
  • Upon investigation of a vehicle traveling at 60 MPH in a 30 MPH zone on Stewart Avenue in the vicinity of St. Paul’s on July 7, officers charged the driver, a 21-year-old man from Hempstead, with switched license plates, unregistered vehicle, unlicensed operation, excessive speed and uninsured vehicle.
  • A traffic investigation on Clinton Road on July 8 resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old man from Uniondale for aggravated unlicensed operation (16 license suspensions) and a Lynbrook Village traffic warrant.
  • Five fraudulent checks totaling $1,700 were reportedly written against a resident’s checking account on July 8.
  • Officers investigated a two-car property damage crash on Stewart Avenue in the vicinity of New Hyde Park Road on July 9. One of the drivers, a 25-year-old man from Corona, was arrested for first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (14 license suspensions) and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (license suspended for a prior DWI).
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the south side of the Stewart Manor train station on July 9.
