Man, 70, Seriously Injured Trying To Cross Garden City Street: PD

GARDEN CITY, NY — A 70-year-old man was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by an Sport-utility vehicle in Garden City Thursday night, Nassau County police said.

Police said the man, whose name has not been released, suffered “multiple trauma injuries to his body.” He was struck while trying to cross the roadway in front of 1 Commercial Ave. by 2006 Toyota 4-Runner that was traveling eastbound at around 6 p.m. The driver of the Toyota, a 50-year-old man, remained at the scene while police conducted a standard brake and safety check, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. No further information was available.
