Man Attacked LI Store Clerk, Stabbed Computer Monitor: Police

Police say he grew angry when he couldn't return merchandise.

A Queens man was arrested on Friday after police say he attacked an employee of a store and then returned and attacked merchandise with a knife.

According to police, Ashley Eugene, 30, of 222nd Street, Queens, became irate when attempting to return a controller for his gaming system at the Microsoft Store in the Roosevelt Field Mall. Eugene took a new controller off the shelf, police said, and started to walk out of the store without paying for it. When an employee confronted him and told him he needed to pay for the controller, police say Eugene picked up a laptop and threw it at the employee, injuring his hand.

After he fled the store, police say Eugene returned brandishing a knife and damaged a computer monitor.
