Man In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Drunk Driver: NCPD
Police say the driver hit the man as he was crossing the street, but remained at the scene.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Queens man was arrested Sunday night after Nassau County police say he hit a pedestrian while driving drunk.
According to police, Jermaine Grant, 28, of 220th Street, was driving a 2016 Mazda south on North Franklin Street, near the intersection of Jackson Avenue, in Hempstead at 7:25 p.m. when he hit a man crossing the road.
Police say that man, who they did not identify, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition.

Grant remained at the scene. An investigation found that he was driving while drunk, police said. He was arrested without incident.
Grant is charged with second-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today.
