Man Cut Woman's Throat, Then Sexually Assaulted Her: Nassau PD

Nassau County police are looking for a man who physically and sexually assaulted a woman in Hempstead early Friday morning.

According to police, a 28-year-old woman was approached by a man near Jackson Avenue and Terrace Avenue at 4:30 a.m. The man engaged her in conversation, and then pulled out a box cutter and cut the woman's throat. He then took her into a nearby alley, police say, where he sexually assaulted her.

The man fled the scene in an unknown direction. The woman called 911 and was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, and is in stable condition.

The attacker was a black man, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a slim build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police say no further description is available.
