Man Dressed As FBI Agent Used Fake Check To Buy Diamond: PD
Police say he used a fake bank check to purchase a diamond worth more than $15,000.
Nassau County police arrested a Brooklyn man who they say was impersonating an FBI officer while buying diamonds from a Garden City store with a forged check.
According to police, Michael Morgan, 51, of Crown Street, Brooklyn, entered HL Gross & Bro. Jewelers at 840 Franklin Ave. on Oct. 28. Police say he agreed to purchase a loose diamond for $15,987.43, and said he was going to the bank to get a cashier's check for the purchase.
Police say he left and then returned a short time later with a cashier's check, wearing an FBI jacket. He placed a gold FBI badge on the counter during the transaction, police say.

Police say it was later determined that Morgan used a forged JP Morgan Chase cashier's check to pay for the diamond, and that he is not employed by the FBI.
Police investigated the incident and arrested Morgan on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Morgan is charged with third-degree grand larceny, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and first-degree criminal impersonation. Hew as arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
