Man Locked Woman In Office And Forcibly Kissed Her: GCPD

Garden City detectives arrested a male employee for unlawfully detaining a female employee inside a Franklin Avenue office and forcibly kissing her on Dec. 13. The 51-year-old man from Mineola was charged with unlawful imprisonment and harassment.

Officers responded to a Franklin Avenue restaurant to investigate a report of a man intentionally damaging a point of sale system resulting in $3,500 in damage on Dec. 13. Upon their arrival, it was determined the man had fled the scene. Officers located and apprehended the the 45-year-old man from Baldwin on 7th Street. He was charged with felony criminal mischief.

Officers responded to a Franklin Avenue office building on Dec. 13 where an employee received an email stating a bomb would go off in the building unless the company paid a $20,000 ransom in bitcoin currency. Upon investigation, the threat was determined to be false. There were numerous similar incidents reported nationwide.

An electronic device was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Garden Street residence on Dec. 14.

While on patrol on Franklin Avenue on Dec. 15, an officer discovered two damaged cars and a man bleeding profusely from his head. The officer determined that the victim, a 61-year-old man from Roslyn, was walking away from his rental car when a car traveling south struck him and his vehicle. The man suffered numerous injuries, including a fractured orbital, and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the other car, a 25-year-old man from Hicksville, was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol and vehicular assault.

At 2:57 a.m. on Dec. 15, an officer saw a car driving erratically without its headlights on eastbound on Stewart Avenue at Rockaway Avenue. The vehicle was stopped on Cathedral Avenue and upon investigation, the driver, a 28-year-old man from Hempstead, was arrested for DWI, driving on the wrong side of pavement markings, headlights not activated and unlicensed operation.

Upon investigation of a vehicle fleeing the scene after being in a collision with another vehicle on Franklin Avenue on Dec. 15., officers arrested an 18-year-old man from Queens for leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a revoked license.

An officer discovered on Dec. 15 that the railroad gate at the Hilton Avenue Train Crossing was damaged by unknown means.

Officers investigated the theft of four Belgium blocks from a Franklin Court Driveway on Dec. 16.

Officers investigated a two-vehicle accident on the Adelphi Campus on Dec. 16, where the female driver of one car fled the scene, striking the driver of the other car as he attempted to stop her. The man suffered a leg injury.

Officers investigated a criminal mischief report where large scratches were found on a vehicle parked at the Garden City Marine Base on Dec. 16.

As a result of a suspicious vehicle investigation on Kensington Road on Dec. 16, officers charged a 39-year-old man from Hempstead for driving with four license suspensions.

Vehicles were entered at a Franklin Court residence with no loss reported on Dec. 17.

A vehicle traveling south on Cathedral Avenue attempted a left turn onto 6th when it struck a 24-year-old male crossing the street on Dec. 17. The man sustained chest injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers investigated the theft of license plates on Dec. 18 which were supposed to be delivered to the victim’s address via the mail.
