Man Tried To Flee Country After Robbing Gas Station: Police
Police say he was caught at JFK Airport with the money he stole.

A man from Uniondale was arrested on Sunday night as he was trying to flee the country after a robbery, police said.
Muzaffer Aktas, 49, of Park Avenue, was working as an attendant at a gas station in Hempstead. According to police, around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Aktas broke open two cash boxes and removed the deposits, then fled the gas station.
The gas station owner was notified of what happened. Police say that he believed Aktas would try to flee the country with the money, so he drove to JFK International Airport to get help from the Port Authority Police. The Port Authority Police located Aktas and placed him under arrest without incident. He was taken back to Nassau County with the recovered money.
