Man Was Driving Dangerously With Heroin On Him: Garden City PD

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending June 19.

  • Upon investigation of an erratic driver on Old Country Road on June 12, officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Hicksville for driving while impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and two lane usage violations.
  • The manager of the Garden City Mobil on Franklin Avenue reported someone smashed a window to the main building on June 13.
  • Upon investigation of a two-vehicle crash in Parking Field 7S on June 14, officers arrested a 58-year-old man from Garden City for DWI. No one was injured.
  • Officers assisted the Garden City Fire Department to rescue a 55-year-old woman from a stuck elevator inside a 7th Street building on June 14. The woman was transported to Winthrop Hospital by NYU Ambulance for breathing difficulty.
  • A driver on Stewart Avenue reported his front windshield was damaged by a lacrosse ball that came from the Stewart School Field on June 15.
  • Officers responded to Poplar Street for fallen large tree branches in the roadway on June 16.
  • Personal property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Carteret Street home on June 17.
  • Personal property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at an 11th Street home on June 18.
  • Officers responded to Kings Supermarket on June 18 to investigate the theft of six lobster tails by two women who were last seen running from the rear doors of the store.
  • Officers investigated a report of a two-vehicle accident on June 18 on Stewart Avenue where one of the vehicles reportedly left the scene without stopping.
