2 Nassau Men Charged With 2019 Murder: Police

Nassau County Police say they have arrested two men in connection with a murder that occurred in Hempstead last November.

Police say officers responded to a Shot Spotter notification at 2:25 a.m. on Nov. 25 in front of a home on Burnett Street in Hempstead. When they arrived, they found Jose Leonardo Sanchez, 33, of Hempstead, lying on the ground. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.

Today, police announced they arrested Kadeem Lewis, 26, of Terrace Avenue, Hempstead, and Richard Ford, 33, for the murder. They are both charged with second-degree murder, and Lewis is also charged with violation of parole. They are both scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
