Nassau Man Set Fire In Hotel Room: Police

Police say they found the arsonist hiding in the shower of another room.

A Westbury man was arrested early this morning and charged with setting a fire in an East Garden City hotel room.

According to police, officers responded to a call for a fire in a room of the Red Roof Inn, at 699 Dibblee Drive. The fire damaged the floor of the room. Police say an investigation showed the fire was started by pouring gasoline on the floor and setting it alight.

Police located Kristopher Kaufman, 39, of Land Lane, a short time later hiding in the shower of another room. He was arrested without incident.
