Nassau Police Charge Man For 2018 Murder

Police say he gunned down a man on a street corner in broad daylight late last year.

Nassau County police arrested a Hempstead man on Monday for a murder that occurred in the village last year.

According to police, Jeffrey Lee, 23, of Roosevelt, was shot multiple times in Hempstead at 12:07 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2018 while standing at the intersection of Darmouth Street and Stewart Avenue. Lee was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

On Monday, police arrested Savonn Dangerfield, 22, of Yale Street, and charged him in connection with the murder.

Dangerfield was charged with second-degree murder and third-degree robbery for an unrelated warrant. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
