Nassau Police Charge 3 in Armed Home Invasion

Police say two of the men, armed with handguns, broke into the home while the third acted as a getaway driver.

Nassau police arrested three men and charged with with a home invasion that occurred in Hempstead in early august.

According to police, on Aug. 3 at 11:20 a.m., two men entered a home on Eagle Avenue through a side door. A third man stayed outside in a car as a driver. Once they were inside, police say the two men pointed handguns at a 49-year-old man, forced him to the ground and demanded money, injuring the man's knee in the process. When the man told the robbers he didn't have money, police said they fled in the car.

An investigation led to the arrest of three people for the home invasion.

Devon Leake, 25, of Jamaica, was arrested on Aug. 28 and charged with first-degree robbery (attempt) and first-degree burglary.

Cody Hernandez, 25, of Islip Terrace, was arrested on Aug. 29 and charged with first-degree robbery (attempt) and first-degree burglary. Police say that Hernandez was the driver.

Anthony Dickson, 27, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Sept. 7 and charged with first-degree robbery (attempt) and first-degree burglary.
